Dubois leads PSC past Colby-Sawyer

PLYMOUTH, N.H. - Freshman Michelle Dubois (Auburn, Maine) scored three goals in less than four minutes Thursday, leading the Plymouth State College women's soccer team to a 5-1 triumph over Colby-Sawyer College in a non-conference match at Panther Field.

The Chargers got on the board first, in the 30th minute, when junior Jesse Wilfert (Boxborough, Mass.) took a pass from freshman teammate Dina Raftery (Essex Junction, Vt.) and lobbed a shot into the top right corner of the Panther net.

Dubois, who came off the PSC bench, went to work. She went in on a partial breakaway and knocked a shot past Colby-Sawyer keeper Euginnia Manseau (Henniker, N.H.) at 34:33. Two-and-a-half minutes later, Dubois took a pass from senior Beth Dooly (Goffstown, N.H.) and deposited the ball into an open net for her second of the game. A minute later, Dubois' shot from the left side went through Manseau's hands and into the net, the goal coming at 38:02.

Dooly, who assisted on one goal in the first half, set up both PSC scores in the second half for a career-high three assists. Senior Carrie Poulin (Westfield, Mass.) got the first one, her sixth of the season, off a crossing pass at 52:07, and Sandra Petlick (New Castle, N.H.) added the final tally, her team-leading eighth of the season, on a rebound at 55:38.

PSC had a 12-7 advantage in shots on goal. Panther senior goalkeeper Becky Kennedy (W. Springfield, Mass.) needed to make just one save to earn the victory. CSC sophomore keeper Erica Reeder (Newmarket, N.H.) came in to replace an injured Manseau late in the first half, and both Charger keepers were credited with one save.

PSC, now 5-5-0 overall, plays a key Little East Conference match this Saturday (Oct. 6) at arch-rival Keene State (1:00 p.m.). CSC, 6-5-0, returns home for Saturday's contest against Anna Maria (1:00 p.m.).
