Plymouth State Women’s Soccer blanks Colby-Sawyer

PLYMOUTH, N.H. - Plymouth State University out shot Colby-Sawyer College 9-1 Thursday afternoon and went on to register a 1-0 victory in a non-conference women's soccer game at Panther Field.

The only goal of the game came just 10 minutes into the contest when sophomore Kelsey McBride (Brookline, N.H.) knocked home her team-leading fourth goal of the season, with an assist from freshman Jaimee Coombs (Peabody, Mass.).  PSU hit two crossbars and one goal post the rest of the way but had to settle for the 1-0 victory, the fourth shutout of the year.

The Panthers got back on the winning track and improved to 6-3 overall, while the Chargers suffered their fifth straight loss and fell to 1-8.

Sophomore keeper Jen Plouffe (North Smithfield, R.I.) made five saves for the visitors.  PSU juniors Hayley Quinones (Waitsfield, Vt.) and Beth McAloon (Bedford, N.H.) shared time in the Panther net, but neither was forced to make any saves.

PSU returns to Little East Conference action this Saturday with a 3:00 p.m. home game against Eastern Connecticut, which is ranked third in New England and 20th in the nation in Division III.  Colby-Sawyer returns home to host Eastern Nazarene Saturday in a Commonwealth Coast Conference match-up (3:00 p.m.).
