PSU Women’s Soccer edged by Worcester State

WORCESTER, Mass. - The Worcester State College women's soccer team improved to 6-1 on the season Tuesday night, capitalizing on an early error by the Plymouth State University defense and gaining a 1-0 victory on a rainy night at Coughlin Field.

The only score of the game came in the 16th minute when Lancer sophomore Amanda Santos (Milford, Mass.) picked off an errant pass by the Panthers which left her with a clear path to the goal and she easily knocked it home for her second goal of the season.

Plymouth State did not back down as they carried play much of the evening, testing Worcester State keeper Kim Massa (Westford, Mass.) on numerous occasions. Massa stopped five shots on the night to record her sixth shutout of the season. Plymouth State freshman keeper Morgan McQuaide (Westerly, R.I.) stopped four Lancer offerings in the game as PSU finished with a 7-5 advantage in shots.

Worcester State will return to action on Thursday when they pay a visit to UMass-Boston. Plymouth State, now 3-2-0 overall, will resume Little East Conference play on Saturday when they host Eastern Connecticut at Panther Field (5:00 p.m.)
