PSU Women’s Soccer comes back to tie Bridgewater State

PLYMOUTH, N.H. - Freshman Stacy DiSabato (Manchester, N.H./Central) recorded a goal and an assist Tuesday evening as Plymouth State University pulled out a 2-2 tie against Bridgewater State College in non-conference women's soccer action at rainy Panther Field.

The Panthers overcame a two-goal deficit to force overtime and earn the tie. The outcome leaves Plymouth State with a 4-7-2 overall record, while the Bears are now 7-4-3.

BSC sophomore Megan Williamson (Ludlow, Mass.) scored the only goal of the first half to give the visitors a 1-0 lead at the break. The Bears extended their lead to 2-0 in the first minute of the second half on a goal by senior Katie Neary (Abington, Mass.)

Plymouth State got on the board less than two minutes later when DiSabato took a shot that was saved by BSC keeper Suzi Estey (South Dennis, Mass.), but junior Meghann McKenney (Hubbardston, Mass.) knocked in the rebound to make it a one-goal game. DiSabato then scored the tying goal with 11:27 on the clock on a crossing pass from junior Jordan Mayhew (Jamaica Plains, Mass.)

Both teams had chances in the overtime session, but rain and stingy defense kept the contest deadlocked at 2-2. PSU finished with a 14-9 advantage in shots, while BSC had the edge in corner kicks, 9-7. Estey made eight saves for the Bears, while PSU junior Ashley Riberdy (Manchester, N.H./Memorial) made five saves.

PSU continues its five-game home stand on Saturday with a Little East Conference match-up against Rhode Island College (5:00 p.m.) BSC returns home to host Salem State in a MASCAC contest on Saturday (12:00 p.m.)
