Weekly conference honors for PSU Womens Soccer and Football Players
PLYMOUTH, N.H. - Two Plymouth State University student-athletes received weekly conference recognition Monday for their performances in Panther victories last week in the sports of women's soccer and football.
Sophomore Stacy DiSabato (Manchester, N.H./Central) was named Little East Conference Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week, and senior Jeff Mack (Milford, N.H./Milford) was named to the New England Football Conference Weekly Honor Roll. DiSabato is recognized by the LEC for the first time this season, while Mack makes his third appearance of the season on the NEFC Honor Roll.
A sophomore forward, DiSabato (right) scored four goals
last week, including a pair of game-winners, as PSU went 2-0 to
pull its record to the .500 mark at 8-8-0. She scored a hat
trick in Tuesday's 5-1 non-conference win at Lyndon State, and she
added the game-winning goal Saturday in PSU's 5-0 home win over
UMass Boston. After a scoreless first half against UMB, her
goal in the first minute of the second half led to a five-goal
eruption for the Panthers.
A Second Team All-LEC selection as a freshman last year, DiSabato is second on the team and 10th in the conference in scoring this season with six goals and two assists. She and the Panthers will try to extend their season Tuesday at Rhode Island College in the opening round of the LEC Tournament.
A 5'11", 208-pound running back, Mack (left) rushed for a
career-high 190 yards on 28 carries (6.8 average) and two
touchdowns last Saturday to lead PSU over MIT, 27-0. He ran
for 114 yards in the first half, including a 25-yard TD run, and
added a one-yard TD run early in the fourth quarter to help PSU put
the game away.
Mack is third in the NEFC in rushing (120.5 yards per game) and tied for fifth in scoring (10 touchdowns). With 964 yards rushing this fall, he needs just 36 yards in PSU's final regular season game to become just the ninth back in school history to rush for more than 1,000 yards in a season.
PSU, 7-1 overall and 5-1 in the NEFC Boyd Division, wraps up the regular season this Saturday with a 1:00 p.m. kickoff at Salve Regina University.
