PSU Women’s Soccer comes back to tie Bridgewater State

PLYMOUTH, N.H. - Junior Lauren Lavery (Nashua, N.H./South) scored her team-leading seventh goal of the season with just over 11 minutes remaining in regulation Tuesday evening, tying the game and sending Plymouth State University to a 2-2 overtime draw against Bridgewater State College in a non-conference women's soccer game at Panther Field.

Senior Kaitlin Lamothe (Wrentham, Mass.) scored a pair of goals for the Bears, twice giving the visitors a lead, but both times the home team came back to tie it.  The deadlock leaves Plymouth State with a 5-5-4 overall record, while Bridgewater State is now 7-2-3.

Lamothe scored for the Bears just 14 minutes into the game, and that stood as the only goal of the first half.  PSU came out and tied the score in the first five minutes of the second half on the first career goal by freshman Jill Hannon (Bow, N.H.), but BSC stopped any Panther momentum with Lamothe's second of the game and team-leading 16th of the season just five minutes later.

Bridgewater State held on to the one-goal advantage for the next 24 minutes until Lavery knocked in a rebound with 11:06 on the clock, sending the game into overtime.  Lavery was named Little East Conference and ECAC New England Player of the Week earlier in the day.

Both teams had scoring opportunities in the extra sessions, but with a cold rain coming down, neither team was able to score.

PSU freshman Angelina LaBroad (Hampton, N.H.) had a busy day in the Panther goal and finished with 20 saves, while BSC senior Ashley Springler (West Springfield, Mass.) made five stops.  The visitors finished with a 37-16 advantage in shots.

Plymouth State wraps up the regular season with three straight road games, beginning Saturday with a key Little East Conference contest at UMass Dartmouth (1:00 p.m.)  Bridgewater State continues its string of five straight road games with another non-conference encounter Thursday at Salve Regina (3:30 p.m.)
