Snively leads PSU Women’s Soccer past Fisher
Panthers record first win of young season
MEDFORD, Mass. – Senior Shannon Snively (Fremont, N.H.) scored a pair of goals Thursday evening to lead the Plymouth State University women's soccer team to its first victory of the season, a 6-0 decision over Fisher College in a non-conference match at Hormel Stadium.
PSU tallied four goals in the first 10 minutes and never looked back, including both of Snively's goals. The Panthers even their record at 1-1 while the Falcons dip to 1-3.
Junior Brittany Terra (Bristol, R.I.) opened the scoring just one minute into the game to put the Panthers ahead for good. Junior Kate Nixon (Wakefield, Mass.) doubled Plymouth State's lead to 2-0 in the fifth minute after taking advantage of a poor communication in the Fisher defense. Snively scored two goals in a two-minute span in what would be the final two goals of the first half, the second goal was assisted by Nixon.
With a 4-0 halftime lead, the Panthers cruised through the second half. Second-half goals by seniors Laura Davis (Pelham, N.Y.) and Molly Todd (Epsom, N.H.) closed out Plymouth State's scoring onslaught. Freshman goalkeeper Kourtney Kellard saved a game-high eight shots in 45 minutes of action. Fisher was outshot 32-2 by Plymouth State. The Panthers also led the categories of shots on goal (20-1) and corner kicks (7-0).
PSU is back on the field Saturday with a non-conference match at Bridgewater State University (1:00 p.m.)
