PSU Women’s Soccer defeats Lyndon State
Todd scores two goals to lead Panthers
LYNDONVILLE, Vt. –Senior Molly Todd (Epsom, N.H.) scored two goals in the first 10 minutes of the game Wednesday afternoon and Plymouth State University went on to a 6-1 non-conference victory over Lyndon State College in women's soccer action at the Lyndon Athletics Field.
Todd punched home a pass from junior Emily Bell (Derry, N.H.) 7:20 into the first half to give the Panthers the lead for good and upped the advantage to 2-0 less than two minutes later with an unassisted marker. Todd now shares the team lead with three goals on the season.
Bell got into the scoring act at 20:49 with an unassisted goal and freshman Hannah Kallis (Sanford, Maine) capped the scoring in the opening half with a tally at 42:45. Plymouth State goalkeeper Annaliese Schmidt (Newmarket, N.H.) drew an assist on the play.
In the second half, sophomore Latisha Bodge (Rochester, N.H.) scored an unassisted goal at 65:43 to push the lead to an insurmountable five goals before senior Laura Davis (Pelham, N.Y.) tallied PSU's final goal at the 84:39 mark. Junior Courtney Barker (Yarmouth, Maine) was credited with an assist on the Davis goal.
Lyndon's Emily Strese ruined PSU's bid for a shutout in the waning minutes of the game with an unassisted goal with 2:29 left to play.
Schmidt and senior Hannah Kimball (Epping, N.H.) combined to make four saves in the game while Hornet goalie Marley Harmon turned aside eight i in the loss. The Panthers out shot Lyndon 26-10 and held a 5-2 advantage in corner kicks.
Plymouth State is on the road again Saturday for a Little East Conference clash at Western Connecticut State University (12 noon).
