NEW HAMPTON, N.H. – Junior forward Mackenzie Hatfield (Whitman, Mass.) tallied the game winning goal with less than two minutes left in the first overtime on Saturday night to lift the visiting Bridgewater State University women's soccer team to a 2-1 victory over Plymouth State University at the New Hampton School.

The Bears improve to 1-3 with their first win of the 2014 campaign, while the host Panthers slip to 1-2.

Hatfield scored the golden goal off an assist from freshman Courtney Pepin (Uxrbidge, Mass.). The Bears had taken a 1-0 lead into halftime on a goal by junior Carolyn Sessler (Plymouth, Mass.) in the 27th minute with classmate Bridget O'Leary (Whitman, Mass.) picking up the assist. For Sessler, the goal marked her first in a BSU uniform.

Freshman keeper Courtney Banzi (Plymouth, Mass.) made three saves to pick up her first collegiate win.

PSU senior Courtney Barker (Yarmouth, Maine) notched an unassisted tally with less than four minutes remaining in regulation to force overtime. Sophomore netminder Annaliese Schmidt (Newmarket, N.H.) turned aside 13 shots in the setback.
