Panthers post third shutout in four games this season

NORTHFIELD, Vt. – The Plymouth State University women's soccer team scored less than five minutes into Wednesday's match and then never looked back en route to a 4-0 win over Norwich University in non-conference action on Sabine Field at Haynes Family Stadium.

Junior Hannah Kallis (Sanford, Maine) scored twice and added an assist for Plymouth State (3-1), while senior Emily Bell (Derry, N.H.) added a pair of assists. Junior Cassie Lacroix (Candia, N.H.) and sophomore Naomi Kramer (Bow, N.H.) also notched goals for Plymouth State.

Lacroix gave Plymouth State the lead a little over four minutes into the match when she slipped the ball into a wide open net after a bouncing ball in the penalty area eluded NU goalkeeper Holly Lutz (Hamburg, N.J.).

Kramer made it 2-0 in the 22nd minute when a loose ball found its way to her at the top of the penalty area and she blasted it into an open net after Lutz came off her line to play the crossing pass. Kallis scored her first of the night just a few minutes later when she collected her own rebound after a team save on the goal line by Morgan Ziegler. The ball rebounded right back to Kallis who knocked it home on the second attempt to make it 3-0 Panthers.

Kallis closed the scoring in the 88th minute after she was all alone on a 2-on-1 and buried a crossing pass from the right from Bell to cap the scoring.

Junior keeper Annaliese Schmidt (Newmarket, N.H.) stopped all four shots she saw to pick up the shutout victory and improve to 3-1 on the year.

PSU returns to Little East Conference action Saturday at Eastern Connecticut State University (1:00 p.m.).
