Martin represents Panthers as LEC Rookie of the Week
PLYMOUTH, N.H. – A freshman on the Plymouth State University women's soccer team was recognized by the Little East Conference (LEC) Monday with a top weekly honor for her performance in a Panther victory last week.
Freshman Kate Martin (Keene, N.H.) was named LEC Women's Soccer Rookie of the Week. Her efforts helped PSU post its first conference victory of the season as the Panthers doubled up the University of Southern Maine, 4-2, Saturday at Arold Field.
A 5'6" midfielder, Martin scored two goals, including the game-winner, in the victory over the Huskies. She scored the first goal of the game in the 10th minute to give the Panthers the lead, and her second goal broke a 2-2 tie in the 56th minute and proved to be the game-winner. Martin shares the team lead with three goals this season and is tied for third with six points.
PSU, 4-3 overall and 1-2 in conference games, plays its next three games on the road, beginning Wednesday at Colby-Sawyer College (3:30 p.m.) and followed by an LEC match-up Saturday at Western Connecticut State University (5:00 p.m.)
