PSU Women’s Soccer players named All-Little East for 2015

Schmidt selected to First Team; Bell voted to Second Team

PLYMOUTH, N.H. – Two members of the Plymouth State University women's soccer team were recognized Wednesday with selection to the 2015 All-Little East Conference Team, as voted by the LEC's eight head coaches.

Junior goalkeeper Annaliese Schmidt (Newmarket, N.H./Newmarket) was named to the All-LEC First Team for the second straight year, and senior forward Emily Bell (Derry, N.H./Pinkerton Academy) was voted All-LEC Second Team, her first career post-season honor. They were key players on a Panther squad that posted its best season record since 2009.

A 5'9" junior, Schmidt started 15 of PSU's 17 games in goal, ranking third in the LEC in total saves (121) and save percentage (.834).  She posted double-digit saves in seven of her 16 appearances, including five in a row in October.  She recorded shutouts over Rhode Island College and New England College, and was the winning keeper in PSU whitewashes over Daniel Webster College, Salem State University and Norwich University.

A 5'8" senior, Bell ranked second on the team in scoring with five goals and four assists. Her 14 points ranked her tied for 13th in the Little East in scoring, and tied for seventh in assists. Bell scored two goals and added an assist in a LEC win over the University of Southern Maine, and scored goals in three straight games in October against New England College, the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth, and Lyndon State College.

The Panthers finished the season with a 7-9-1 overall record and a 2-4-1 mark in LEC contests. PSU was eliminated from the LEC Tournament in the quarterfinal round at the University of Massachusetts Boston, 2-0.
