Lloyd nets a pair as Panthers post second straight shutout

LYNDONVILLE, Vt. – Freshman Mallory Lloyd (Hartland, Vt.) found the net twice as the Plymouth State University women's soccer team exploded for six first half goals to run past non-conference foe Lyndon State College, 6-0, for its second shutout win in as many days.

Lloyd notched her first goal 8:53 into the contest to open the scoring for the Panthers. Sophomore Caitlin Catania (Billerica, Mass.) doubled the PSU lead in the 22nd minute, and Lloyd added her second goal with an assist from senior Naomi Kramer (Bow, N.H.) just six minutes later.

Sophomores Michelle Henry (Melrose, Mass.) and Keegan Burch (Nashua, N.H.), and junior Hannah Murdough (Hillsboro, N.H.) each scored in a ten-minute span to pad the PSU lead.

Junior Kate Martin (Westmoreland, N.H.) had a pair of assists and Burch add a helper on the Murdough goal.

Plymouth controlled the game from the start, outshooting the Hornets by a 51-4 margin. LSC had just two shots on goal, which were both denied by freshman goalie Molly Robinson (Millstone, N.J.) to complete the shutout. Lyndon State senior goalkeeper Johanna Sargent stopped 20-of-26 Panther shots in the loss.

With the victory the Panthers improve to 2-0 and have now scored 11 goals over their first two games. Plymouth State will open its home schedule on Wednesday (Sept. 6), when the Panthers host Salem State at 4:00 p.m. in another non-conference game.
