Lloyd named Offensive Player of the Week
PLYMOUTH, N.H. – After helping lead the Plymouth State University women's soccer team to wins over Salem State and UMass Dartmouth, junior Mallory Lloyd (Hartland, Vt.) has earned Little East Conference (LEC) weekly recognition by being named the Offensive Player of the Week.
Lloyd played a big role in the Panthers' 2-0 week, combining for two goals and three assists in wins over Salem State (4-0) and UMass Dartmouth (4-3, 2OT).
On Tuesday, Lloyd set up the game-winning goal in the shutout of Salem State, before adding some insurance with a second half tally.
In Saturday's LEC-opener, she notched her fifth goal of the year to give PSU a 2-1 first half lead, and went on to record assists on each of the Panthers' next two goals in the double overtime thriller. After leaving the game in the second overtime, Lloyd returned just seven minutes later to set up the game-winner.
After being held off the scoresheet for the team's first three games, Lloyd has notched at least one goal in each of the last four contests she appeared in. Overall Lloyd has amassed 13 points, tying her for the fifth-most in the Little East. Her five goals are fifth-best in the LEC despite having played at least two fewer games than those ahead of her. Meanwhile her three assists lead the Panthers and are tied for seventh-most in the league. Needless to say, her strong play up front has been a crucial part of PSU's offense this year.
PSU (4-4-0, 1-0-0 LEC) has a pair of conference road matches this week. The Panthers head to Southern Maine on Wednesday (Oct. 2) for a 7:00 p.m. start before visiting UMass Boston for a 1:00 p.m. contest on Saturday (Oct. 5).
