Catania picked to represent Panthers
PLYMOUTH, N.H. – Plymouth State University senior Caitlin Catania (Billerica, Mass.) has been selected to compete in the New England Women's Intercollegiate Soccer Association (NEWISA) Senior Bowl, to be held at Merrimack College on Saturday (Dec. 7) at noon.
The two-year captain will represent Plymouth State in the annual contest that features the top seniors from New England-based schools across all three NCAA divisions.
A 5-4 defender, Catania earned All-Little East Conference recognition for the second time of her career after anchoring a Plymouth State defense that allowed the fourth-fewest goals in the conference (38). She added a goal and two assists on the offensive end and made a game-saving play in the Panthers' 1-0 win over Castleton on Senior Day.
Catania was one of three players from the LEC to be selected, joined by a pair of seniors from Keene State.
Under sixth-year head coach Ryan Joy the Panthers went 8-10-0 overall and 4-4-0 in the Little East posting the most conference wins in 16 years. As the fifth seed in the LEC Tournament, PSU dropped a narrow, 1-0 decision at fourth-seeded Eastern Connecticut in the opening round.
