Cindy Bennett is in her fourth year as head women’s soccer coach at Plymouth State in 2013.  She arrived at PSU in the summer of 2010, taking over a team that had only one senior and led the Panthers to seven wins in her first season, the most Panther victories in a season in three years.

The Panthers graduated 10 seniors after the 2011 campaign and Coach Bennett has had the team working hard in the off-season, preparing for the 2013 campaign.  She and the veterans have three years together under their belts, and a strong group of newcomers is expected to join the team.

The 11th head coach in the 34-year history of the PSU women’s soccer program, Bennett is a former Division I all-star goalkeeper at Stony Brook University (N.Y.).  She has previous coaching experience at both the Division I and III levels, with stints at Dartmouth College and Colby-Sawyer College.  She also helped out as an assistant with the PSU women’s basketball team in 2010-11.

Bennett began her collegiate coaching career in 2006 as an assistant coach at her alma mater, Stony Brook.  She also served one year as an assistant at the University of Virginia, and spent 2009-10 as an assistant at Colby-Sawyer, and at Dartmouth, where she worked primarily with the goalkeepers. Bennett earned both National and Advanced National coaching licenses from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America before graduating, and has been involved with the New Hampshire Olympic Development Program since 2008.

Bennett was the America East Conference Rookie of the Year in 2002 as a goalkeeper at Stony Brook and was selected America East Goalkeeper of the Year in 2004.  She holds the Seawolves record for career shutouts with 23, posting a career goals against average of just under 1.33.  Bennett participated in the US U-20 National Team training camps in 2004.
