PLYMOUTH, N.H. - Plymouth State College won 11 of the 16 swimming and diving events Saturday in a dual meet at Bridgewater State College, but the Bears used stronger depth to pull out a 158-139 decision over the Panthers.

Sophomore Allison Bregy (Camden, Maine) led the Panthers with victories in the 200 yard butterfly (2:25.03), the 100 butterfly (1:06.40) and the 200 individual medley (2:25.34).

Three other Panther seniors captured two events apiece. Meaghan Buckley (Haverhill, Mass.) took first in the 200 freestyle (2:04.49) and 100 freestyle (56.48), Sue Lassonde (Concord, NH) took home the one-meter (180.10) and three-meter diving (180.55) events, and senior Sandy Twaddell (Jaffrey, NH) placed first in the grueling 500 free (5:47.60) and 1000 freestyle (12:02.14) races.

Other Panthers capturing events included freshman Andrea Boutilier (Chicopee, Mass.) in the 200 backstroke (2:29.95), and the 400 freestyle relay team of Twaddell, Buckley, Amy Bernier (Bristol, Conn.) and Boutilier (3:58.51).

The loss drops the Panthers to 3-3 on the season. PSC returns to action Tuesday (Jan. 25) in a tri-meet at St. Michael's College with Plattsburgh State (5 p.m.). The only remaining home meet is Wednesday, Feb. 2, vs. arch-rival Keene State (6 p.m.).
