Buckley captures 7th place in 50 Free at New Englands

BRUNSWICK, Maine - The senior captain on the Plymouth State College women's swimming and diving team finished as a finalist in the 50 yard freestyle Friday night in the first day of the New England Division III Women's Championships, hosted by Bowdoin College.

Senior Meaghan Buckey (Haverhill, Mass.) captured seventh place in the 50 free Friday night with a time of 25.28 seconds. She qualified for the finals with the eighth-best time (25.27) in the afternoon preliminaries. A three-time finalist in the 50, the seventh place finish matches her seventh place in the same event a year ago.

Buckley was also a member of PSC's 200 yard freestyle relay team that placed 15th overall. Buckley was joined by three other "B"s - sophomores Amy Bernier (Bristol, Conn.) and Allison Bregy (Camden, Maine) and freshman Andrea Boutilier (Chicopee, Mass.) - finishing 15th with a time of 1:45.69.

The three-day meet continues Saturday and Sunday.
