Panthers dunk Simmons
BOSTON, Mass. - Juniors Allison Bregy (Camden, Maine) and Amy Bernier (Bristol, Conn.) each won two individual events and swam on two winning relay teams Saturday afternoon to lead the Plymouth State College women's swimming and diving team to a 120-104 victory over Simmons College.
Bregy brought home first place in the 200 yard freestyle (2:10.37) and 100 yard backstroke (1:09.10), while Bernier finished first in the 100 free (59.25) and 50 butterfly (30.00). The twosome were joined by sophomore Andrea Boutilier (Chicopee, Mass.) and freshman Scarlette Scarborough (Salem, N.H.) in winning both the 200 medley relay (2:04.59) and 400 freestyle relay (4:08.07).
Boutilier and Scarborough were also first-place winners in individual events, Boutilier taking the 50 free (27.14) and Scarborough the 100 fly (1:08.54). Other individual winners for PSC included freshman Katie Koch (Jeffersonville, Vt.) in the 50 back (34.54) and classmate Erin Crimmin (Falmouth, Maine) in the 1000 free (13:30.22).
PSC freshman Kristin Kearins (Andover, Mass.) won both diving events, scoring 181.80 in the one-meter and 210.20 in the three-meter. Classmate Jen Crescenzi (Killingwoth, Conn.) was runner-up on both boards with scores of 181.75 and 192.08, respectively.
The Panthers, 2-3, return home to host Bridgewater State next Saturday (Jan. 20) at the PSC Natatorium (1 p.m.).
