Keene State defeats PSC
KEENE, N.H. - Keene State College captured 10 of the 16 events Wednesday to defeat Plymouth State College in a women's swimming and diving meet, 172-124.
The Owls have now defeated the Panthers four straight times. KSC improves to 7-1 this season, while PSC drops to 3-5.
The highlight of the meet for Plymouth State was the diving events, where PSC went 1-2-3 on both boards. Freshman Becky Huntington (Hampstead, N.H.) captured first place on both the one- and three-meter boards, scoring a season-high 218.75 on the low board and a season-high 248.80 on the high board. Freshman Kristen Kearins (Andover, Mass.) was runner-up on one-meter (211.30), and classmate Jen Crescenzi (Killingworth, Conn.) finished second on three-meter (247.20).
Three Panther swimmers came home with wins in individual events. Junior Amy Bernier (Bristol, Conn.) took the 200 yard freestyle (2:10.07), sophomore Andrea Boutilier (Chicopee, Mass.) won the 50 free (27.54), and junior Allison Bregy (Camden, Maine) captured the 500 free (5:48.80).
PSC also won the 200 medley relay with the team of freshman Scarlette Scarborough (Salem, N.H.), Bregy, Bernier and Boutiler (2:03.19).
The Panthers have two more dual meets before the New England Championships, both at home. PSC hosts UMass Dartmouth this Saturday (Feb. 3) at 1 p.m. and Saint Michael's next Tuesday (Feb. 6) at 5 p.m.
