PSC downs Salem State to even mark at 1-1
SALEM, Mass. - Plymouth State College registered its first victory of the season in women's swimming and diving Wednesday evening with a 163-130 triumph at Salem State College.
The Panthers captured nine of the 16 events in the meet, including both relays. PSC evens its record at 1-1 on the season.
Senior Allison Bregy (Camden, Maine) and sophomore Krit Kearins (Andover, Mass.) led PSC with two individual victories apiece. Bregy took the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:18.75 and the 100 individual medley in 1:09.25. Kearins placed first in both the one-meter (194.10) and three-meter (181.45) diving events.
Other Plymouth State individual winners included freshman Ann Winters (Chester, N.H.) in the 1000-yard freestyle (12:54.17), sophomore Scarlette Scarborough (Salem, N.H.) in the 100-yard butterfly (1:08.02), senior Amy Bernier (Bristol, Conn.) in 100-yard freestyle (1:00.30).
PSC's winning relay teams included Scarborough, Vanessa Re (West Hartford, Conn.), Bregy and Bernier in the 200 medley relay (2:07.87), and Winters, Sarah Carswell (Eliot, Maine), Megan Anderson (South Windsor, Conn.) and Jess Nugent (Manchester, N.H.) in the 200 free relay.
The Panthers will compete next at the annual Little East Conference Championship meet on Saturday, Dec. 1st, at UMass Dartmouth.
