NORTH DARTMOUTH, Mass. - Plymouth State College finished in the middle of the pack Saturday at the Little East Conference Women's Swimming and Diving Championships, placing third out of five schools in the team scoring.
PSC finished the meet with 266 points. Keene State won the team championship with 555 points, while host UMass Dartmouth was runner-up with 414. Eastern Connecticut (213) and Western Connecticut (84) rounded out the field. It was the same order of finish as last year's meet.
Leading the group of Panther swimmers were sophomore Scarlette Scarborough (Salem, N.H.) and senior Allison Bregy (Camden, Maine). Scarborough had two top-four finishes, placing second in the 200-yard butterfly in a time of 2:23.44 and fourth in the 200-yard backstroke in 2:27.98. Bregy captured a pair of third place finishes, in the 200 fly (2:28.00) and 200-yard individual medley (2:29.24).
Other top performers for PSC included junior Vanessa Re (West Hartford, Conn.), who took third in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:56.40), and classmate Andrea Boutilier (Chicopee, Mass.), who placed fourth in the 50-yard free (26.84).
Diving continues to be a strong event for the Panthers, with four PSC divers finishing in the top seven on the one-meter board, and three in the top five on three-meter. Sophomore Krit Kearins (Andover, Mass.) led the group, placing second on the low board (208.00 points) and third on the high board (207.70), while sophomore Becky Huntington (Hampstead, N.H.) was fourth on both one-meter (194.84) and three-meter (203.85).
PSC resumes dual meet action Wednesday (Dec. 5) at Regis College (5:00 p.m.). The home opener is next Saturday (Dec. 8) against Norwich University (1:00 p.m.).
