Bentley dunks Panthers in dual meet
WALTHAM, Mass. - Competing in the first dual meet of the semester, the Plymouth State College women's swimming and diving team ran into some tough competition Saturday and was defeated by Bentley College, 160-133.
The Falcons captured 12 of the 16 events to win the meet, improving to 3-1 on the season, while PSC dropped to 3-2.
The bright spots for the Panthers were provided by juniors Scarlette Scarborough (Salem, N.H.) and Krit Kearins (Andover, Mass.), who captured two individual events apiece.
Scarborough finished first in the 100 yard backstroke in a time of 1:08.58, edging out Bentley's Emily Cheng by 0.19. Scarborough also took the 200 individual medley in 2:29.31, and placed second in the 100 butterfly (1:05.71).
Kearins swept the two diving events, scoring a season-high 217.00 points to win on the one-meter board and tallying a season-best 226.65 to take the three-meter event. Classmate Jen Crecenzi (Killingworth, Conn.) finished second on both boards.
Panther junior Annabelle Winters (Chester, N.H.) finished runner-up in three individual swimming events - the 500 and 1000 freestyles and the 200 I.M. - and classmate Caitlin O'Connor (Rochester, N.H.) registered second place finishes in the 100 and 200 freestyles.
PSC is back in action next Saturday (Jan. 18) with a dual meet at Bridgewater State (1 p.m.).
