PLYMOUTH, N.H. - Two members of the Plymouth State College women's swimming and diving team have been recognized by the Little East Conference, receiving weekly honors for their performances in PSC's dual meet last Saturday.
Junior Scarlette Scarborough (Salem, N.H.) was named LEC Swimmer of the Week, and junior Krit Kearins (Andover, Mass.) was selected LEC Diver of the Week. This is the first year that the Little East has selected Athletes of the Week in women's swimming and diving.
Scarborough captured three individual events and swam on a winning relay team last Saturday as PSC defeated St. Joseph University (Conn.), 152-120. Scarborough posted her best time of the season in all three events, winning the 100 yard butterfly in 1:04.18, the 100 yard backstroke in 1:06.75, and the 50 yard butterfly in 30.56 seconds. She also swam on PSC's winning 400 yard freestyle team. Scarborough has won at least two individual events in all seven Panther dual meets, combining for 19 first-place finishes overall.
Kearins was the first-place diver in both the one- and three-meter diving events (six dives) last Saturday in the win over St. Joseph. She posted a score of 212.55 to win the one-meter event, and registered a season-best total of 229.90 to take the three-meter event. Kearins is the school-record holder in the 10-dive format on the one-meter board (290.65).
The Panthers, 5-2 in dual meets, return to action this Saturday with the final home meet of the season against UMass Dartmouth (1 p.m.).
