PSU dunks Regis in women’s swimming & diving

WESTON, Mass. - Senior Scarlette Scarborough (Salem, N.H.) won three individual events Saturday afternoon, leading the Plymouth State University women's swimming and diving team to a 150-117 victory over Regis College.

Scarborough brought home the fastest time in the 50-yard butterfly (30.89 seconds), the 100-yard butterfly (1:05.68) and the 100-yard backstroke (1:09.83). She also swam on PSU's winning 200- yard medley relay team, which finished in a time of 2:10.06.

Senior Krit Kearins (Andover, Mass.) had a terrific day on the diving board for the Panthers, capturing the one-meter voluntary and optional diving events. Her score of 179.60 in the voluntary round broke the school record of 174.45, set in 1998 by Kathleen Boyd. Kearins' score of 190.20 in the optional round just missed Boyd's 1998 record of 190.65.

Three other Panther swimmers collected two individual victories to assist in the PSU team win. Senior Annabelle Winters (Chester, N.H.) placed first in the 500-yard freestyle (5:48.42) and the 1000-yard freestyle (11:50.95); freshman Cait Anton (Woolwich, Maine) finished first in the 200-yard free (2:12.00) and 100-yard individual medley (1:09.42); and freshman Katie Bouffard (Essex Jct., Vt.) took first in the 50-yard breaststroke (37.04 seconds) and 100-yard breaststroke (1:19.28).

Sophomore Liz DeLise was the top swimmer for Regis, winning the 50-yard backstroke in 36.88 and the 50-yard free in 28.82. Sophomore Colleen Colarusso won the 100 yard free (1:08.80).

PSU, 2-1, is back in action in two weeks, Saturday, Dec. 6, at the Little East Conference Championship meet, hosted by UMass Boston.
