PSU Swimmers and Divers cruise past Regis

WESTON, Mass. - Plymouth State University won 13 of the meets 16 events Saturday afternoon and defeated Regis College, 150-109, in a women's swimming and diving meet.

The Panthers used depth across the board, as five women captured individual events and the team won both relays. PSU evens its record at 1-1 on the season while Regis falls to 0-5.

Leading the way for the Panther swimmers were junior Cait Anton (Woolwich, Maine), sophomores Christina DiGiacomo (Meriden, Conn.) and Lindsay Osborne (Oak Ridge, N.C.), and freshman Amanda Branch (Grey, Maine). Anton won the 50-yard backstroke and the 100-yard freestyle; DiGiacomo took the 50-yard free and the 200-yard free; Osborne finished first in the 100-yard butterfly and 200-yard individual medley; and Branch was the first to touch in the 50-yard butterdly and the 1000-yard freestyle. Freshman Trista Garrity (Saco, Maine) also collected a win in the 100-yard freestyle.

Junior Danielle DeStefano (Centerville, Mass.) was the top diver on the day, winning both the one-meter voluntary and optional events for PSU.

Junior Leah Boniface (Marlborough, Mass.) captured a pair of events for Regis, taking the 50- and 100-yard breaststroke. Sophomore Elise Doucette (Hampden, Maine) also won the 100-yard backstroke.

PSU's next meet is a dual at Salem State on Wednesday, Nov. 30, at 6:00 p.m. Regis competes again at the Commonwealth Coast Conference meet on Friday-Saturday, Dec. 3-4, at Roger Williams.
