Plymouth State drops womens swimming & diving meet to Bridgewater State
PLYMOUTH, N.H. - Senior Lindsay Devereaux (Princeton, Mass.) won three individual events and swam on a winning relay team Saturday afternoon, leading Bridgewater State College to a 163-134 victory over Plymouth State University in a women's college swimming and diving meet at the PSU Natatorium.
Juniors Cait Anton (Woolwich, Maine) and Danielle DeStefano (Centerville, Mass.) were the top PSU performers, winning two individual events each. Anton captured the 100-yard backstroke (1:06.86) and 200-yard backstroke (2:22.76), and DeStefano swept the two diving events, scoring 195.55 to win on one-meter and 197.80 to take the three-meter. DeStefano has won both diving events in five of six dual meets this season.
Anton was also joined by junior Katie Bouffard (Essex Jct., Vt.) and sophomores Lindsay Osborne (Oak Ridge, N.C.) and Christina DiGiacomo (Meriden, Conn.) on PSU's winning 200-yard medley relay team (2:03.22).
Devereaux was one of five multiple winners for the Bears, as she captured the 100-yard butterfly (1:05.04), the 200-yard fly (2:29.34) and the 200-yard individual medley (2:25.23). Freshman Jillian Coache (New Bedford, Mass.) won the 50-yard free (26.97) and 100-yard free (58.02); senior Meaghan Thomas (Foxboro, Mass.) took the 500-yard free (5:43.02) and 1,000-yard free (11:29.57); and junior Patricia Montmeny (Springfield, Mass.) swept the 100-yard breaststroke (1:19.51) and the 200-yard breaststroke (2:50.44).
Freshman Sarah Fuller (Palmer, Mass.) also captured the 200-yard freestyle (2:06.99), and the BSC team of Coache, Devereaux, Thomas and Fuller clinched the Bears' victory with a win in the 400-yard free relay (3:58.73).
PSU, 2-4 overall, is home again on Wednesday with a dual meet against Keene State (6:00 p.m.) BSC, 5-4, returns home to host Westfield State next Saturday (1:00 p.m.)
