Two PSU Swimmers named All-Little East Conference
PLYMOUTH, N.H. - Two members of the Plymouth State
University women's swimming and diving team have been named to the
2009 All-Little East Conference Team, it was announced Monday by
the conference office.
The major award recipients (Swimmer of the Year, Rookie Swimmer of the Year, Diver of the Year and Coach of the Year) were selected based on a vote of the LEC head coaches. The All-Conference Team was determined by the individual finishes at the New England Intercollegiate Swimming and Diving Association (NEISDA) Championships last month at UMass Dartmouth.
PSU freshman Nicole Brodeur (Claremont, N.H.) was
named All-LEC Second Team in the 200-yard freestyle, and senior
Kaitlyn Milligan (Forestdale, Mass.) was an
All-LEC Third Team honoree in the 50-yard freestyle. Brodeur
(near right) was the second-fastest LEC swimmer in the 200
free at New Englands, placing seventh overall with a personal-best
time of 2:02.32, while Milligan (far right) was the
third-fastest LEC swimmer in the 50 free, taking 13th
overall in a season-best time of 26.81 seconds.
Brodeur and Milligan helped the Panthers finish in 13th place out of 22 schools at the New England Championships. PSU also posted a 6-4 record in dual meets this past winter under veteran coach Al Switzer, it's best dual meet record in 10 years.
