Little East Conference honor for PSU women’s swimmer
Brodeur leads Panthers in season-opening meets
PLYMOUTH, N.H. – One of the top
student-athletes on the Plymouth State University women’s
swimming and diving team was honored by the Little East Conference
(LEC) Monday for her efforts in PSU’s opening meets of the
season.
Junior Nicole Brodeur (Claremont, N.H./Vermont Academy) was named Little East Conference Swimmer of the Week. She has had numerous first-place finishes as PSU won its first two dual meets over Regis College and Colby-Sawyer College and she posted the top swims for the Panthers at the Regis College Invitational.
The current school record-holder in the 500-yard freestyle and the
100-yard butterfly, Brodeur (right) captured five
individual victories and two relay triumphs in PSU’s
victories over Regis and Colby-Sawyer. She won the 50
freestyle (27.42 seconds) and 50 butterfly (30.01) in the win over
Regis on Nov. 5, and she captured the 100 free (59.58 seconds), the
50 fly (30.19), and the 100 fly (1:06.59) in PSU’s win over
Colby-Sawyer on Nov. 21. She swam a leg on PSU’s
winning 400-free relay team in both meets. Brodeur also
posted PSU’s top finishes at the Regis Invitational on Nov.
13, taking second place in the 100-butterfly (1:06.20) and the 100
free (58.43) and third in the 50 fly (29.69).
The Panthers, 2-0, are off until competing in the Little East Conference Championships on Saturday, Dec. 4, at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth.
