Bentley sinks PSU Women’s Swimming/Diving
Bradley tops Panthers with two breaststroke wins
PLYMOUTH, N.H. – Bentley University captured 13 of the 16 events Friday afternoon en route to a 175-104 victory over Plymouth State University in women's swimming and diving action at the PSU Natatorium.
Bentley used a balanced team effort for the victory, with 11 different Falcons posting individual victories. The only double winner for the visitors was sophomore Caroline Lewis, who captured the 50- and 100-yard backstroke races in 30.17 seconds and 1:05.23, respectively. Bentley remains undefeated in dual meets this season (5-0).
Senior Brittanie Bradley turned in the top performance for the Panthers, capturing first place in the 50- and 100-yard breaststroke in 35.66 seconds and 1:18.62. PSU's other victory came in the final race, the 400-yard freestyle relay, which included the team of senior Lara Gruner, sophomore Delia Foley, senior Nicole Brodeur, and junior Amy Mulhern.
Bentley swept the freestyle events, with junior Monika Drogosz winning the 50-yard race in 26.43 seconds; classmate Jennifer Hodsdon taking the 100 in 58.09 seconds; freshman Nadine Edwards touching first in the 200 in 2:01.25; senior Susie Boretti winning the 500 in 5:40.03; and sophomore Amelia Suda cruising home first in the 1000 in 11:44.71.
The Falcons also took first in both butterfly races, with sophomore Amy Shin capturing the 50 in 28.99 seconds and classmate Kellen Power the winner in the 100 in 1:03.55. Senior Molly Murphy was the fastest swimmer in the 100-yard individual medley, finishing the race in 1:07.55.
The winners of the two diving events also wore Bentley suits, with junior Abby Mathews winning on the one-meter board (223.55 points) and freshman Paige Wilde scoring highest on the three-meter plank (214.35).
Plymouth State (0-4) will host its annual alumni meet Saturday (Jan. 7) and will host defending Little East Conference champion Keene State College on Wednesday (Jan. 11). Bentley returns home to host the College of Saint Rose on Sunday, Jan. 15.
