PSU Diver finishes ninth in one-meter at NEISDA Champs.
Panther junior just misses trip to finals
PLYMOUTH, N.H. – Plymouth State University junior Shannon Rogers (Beverly, Mass.) finished in ninth place Saturday in the one-meter diving event as part of the New England Intercollegiate Swimming and Diving Association (NEISDA) Championships held at the PSU Natatorium.
Unfortunately for Rogers, the top eight divers advance to Saturday's evening's finals. Rogers scored 309.95 points in Saturday's one-meter trials, but finished 15 points behind eighth-place Martina Bosse of Husson University (324.60). Westfield State University sophomore Katie Sterpka was the high scorer in Saturday's trials with a score of 397.50.
Rogers improved on her score of 281.35 at last year's championships. Her highest scoring voluntary dives were the inward dive pike (20 points) and forward dive pike (19.5), and her top optional dive was a reverse somersault tuck (18).
The championships continue on Sunday with the three-meter event, with trials at 10:30 a.m. and finals at 4:30 p.m.
