Lawrence honored in Women's Hoops; Rogers recognized for Diving

PLYMOUTH, N.H. – Two Plymouth State University student-athletes were honored by the Little East Conference (LEC) Monday for their performances in Panther contests last week.

Freshman DeAsia Lawrence (Middletown, Conn.) was named LEC Women's Basketball Rookie of the Week, while senior Shannon Rogers (Beverly, Mass.) was named LEC Diver of the Week.

A 5'5" guard, Lawrence averaged 14.5 points in a 1-1 week for PSU, shooting 47.4 percent from the field and 62.5 percent from three-point range. She scored 17 points and handed out four assists in Tuesday's non-conference win over Johnson State College, and she tallied 12 points, hitting 3-of-4 from three-point distance, in an LEC loss Saturday to Western Connecticut State University.

Lawrence is currently fourth on the team in scoring, averaging 5.1 points per game. She leads the team in three-point field goal percentage (36.0) and ranks second with nine baskets from beyond the arc.

A four-year veteran diver, Rogers captured both the one- and three-meter diving in a double dual meet with Bridgewater State and Rhode Island College with career-best scores in both events.  She tallied 192.41 points to win on the low board and 186.00 points to take the high board.

Rogers is a returning All-New England diver, having placed fifth at the 2013 New England Championships in the three-meter diving and ninth on one meter.
