Allaire recognized after outstanding freshman season
PLYMOUTH, N.H. – The freshman diver on the Plymouth State University women's swimming and diving team has been rewarded by the Little East Conference (LEC) for her outstanding rookie campaign.
Freshman Casey Allaire (Mattapoisett, Mass.) was named LEC Women's Rookie Diver of the Year in a vote of the conference head coaches. Allaire enjoyed a record-setting season that also included a pair of New England Intercollegiate Swimming and Diving Association (NEISDA) championships.
Allaire had a strong regular season, winning both diving events in three different dual meets and setting a school record on the one-meter board with 248.80 points against the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth. She enjoyed an outstanding post-season, starting off by capturing a second-place finish in the three-meter diving and third place finish on one-meter at the LEC Championships.
The Panther rookie capped her season with a pair of titles at last weekend's NEISDA championship meet. After taking the 1-meter crown on Friday night, while setting a new school record in the process, Allaire added the 3-meter dive title to her impressive list of accomplishments. She qualified first with a score of 344.50 on Saturday night, then followed that up with a score of 348.50 in Sunday's final.
Allaire is coached by 26-year veteran Al Switzer.
