PSU Women’s Swimming & Diving sinks Rhode Island College

Turell, Wadlinger, Schumaker lead Panthers to victory 

            SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Freshman Cammie Turell (Bowie, Md.) won all three of her individual events and was part of a winning relay team as Plymouth State University swam past Rhode Island College, 119-95, at the Bryant University Chace Center Pool on Saturday.

            Seniors Emily Wadlinger (Lebanon, N.H.) and Addie Schumaker (Haymarket, Va.) also had strong days in the pool for the Panthers. Both swimmers earned a pair of first place individual finishes, while combining to join forces with Turell and sophomore Casey Allaire (Mattapoisett, Mass.) to win the 200-yard medley relay as well.

            Turell continued her hot start to the year, picking up wins in the 100-yard butterfly (1:06.62), 100-yard freestyle (1:00.27) and 50-yard butterfly (29.06).

            Wadlinger was the first to touch the wall in the 50-yard breaststroke (36.10) and 50-yard freestyle (26.43), while Schumaker was the fastest swimmer in the 200-yard freestyle (2:24.06) and 500-yard freestyle (6:25.84).

            Plymouth State picked up its first dual meet win of the year to improve to 1-3, while RIC fell to 0-3.

            PSU will be on the road again next Saturday (Dec. 9) with a dual meet at Westfield State (1:00 p.m.).
