PSU Swimmer and Diver earn NEISDA recognition

Wadlinger, Allaire honored for strong performances 

            PLYMOUTH, N.H. – Two members of the Plymouth State University women's swimming and diving team were honored with recognition by the New England Intercollegiate Swimming and Diving Association (NEISDA) on Thursday.

            Senior Emily Wadlinger (Lebanon, N.H.) was named the NEISDA Swimmer of the Week, while sophomore Casey Allaire (Mattapoisett, Mass.) was selected as the NEISDA Diver of the Week.

            Wadlinger posted a season-best time of 30.82 while winning the 50-yard backstroke during the Panthers' 120-100 loss at Westfield State University last Saturday. She also earned a second place finish in the 100-yard freestyle sporting a time of 1:00.46, while ending third in the 50-yard freestyle in 27.31 seconds. This is the first weekly honor for Wadlinger.

            Allaire swept the diving events for the third time this season. She scored 219.45 in the 1-meter dive, then set a new season-high with a mark of 216.15 in the 3-meter dive. Allaire has swept the diving events in each of the three meets that featured diving this season. This is the third time Allaire has earned a weekly honor. She was named Little East Conference Diver of the Week on Nov. 6 and Nov. 13.

            The swimming and diving team is back in the pool on Jan. 6 for a dual meet against Simmons College at the PSU Natatorium. Start time is set for 1:00 p.m.
