PSU Women’s Swimming & Diving athletes earn academic recognition

Seven Panthers named to NEISDA Fall All-Academic Team

            PLYMOUTH, N.H. – The New England Intercollegiate Swimming and Diving Association (NEISDA) announced its 2018-19 Fall All-Academic Team on Wednesday afternoon and seven Plymouth State University student-athletes were among those honored.

            In total, 138 women and 27 men representing 18 New England institutions were recognized. With seven honorees, Plymouth State had the third most among Little East Conference (LEC) schools, trailing only Eastern Connecticut State University (8) and affiliate member Westfield State University (10).

            To make the All-Academic Team a student-athlete must have a semester GPA of 3.50 or higher. Earning the honor for PSU were senior Alexa Gamache (Bedford, N.H.), juniors Casey Allaire (Mattapoisett, Mass.) and Heather Gebhardt (Amherst, N.H.), sophomore Marci Hartman (Lake Worth, Fla.) and freshmen Julia Hollinger (Bow, N.H.), Madelin Svetin (Topsham, Maine) and Ellie Wilson (Darnestown, Md.).

            The Panthers wrap up the regular season with a Senior Day dual meet against the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth on Saturday (Jan. 26) at the PSU Natatorium at 1:00 p.m. The meet will also serve as a Breast Cancer Awareness meet, as the team will be collecting donations at the door with all proceeds going to First Descents, a recognized leader in outdoor experiential programming for young adults impacted by cancer.
