PSU Swimming & Diving athlete earns LEC recognition

Allaire selected as Co-Diver of the Week following LEC Championships

PLYMOUTH, N.H. – Just two days after adding another Little East Conference (LEC) diving title to her resume, junior Casey Allaire (Mattapoisett, Mass.) has been selected as the LEC Co-Diver of the Week the league office announced on Monday.

Allaire captured the 1-meter diving title to grab All-LEC First Team honors, while also placing second in 3-meter diving to earn All-LEC Second Team recognition, at Saturday's LEC Championship at the Tripp Natatorium at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth.

Allaire and Westfield State senior Monique Groux (Agawam, Mass.) have a history of battling for the top spot at the championship meet and it was no different over the weekend. Allaire held off Groux on the 1-meter board by a narrow 239.05 – 236.40 margin, while Groux edged Allaire on the 3-meter board 229.25 – 227.25. The roles were reversed a year ago, when Allaire held on for the win on the 3-meter board and Groux took the 1-meter title.

Allaire has had another spectacular season, winning every 1-meter event she's entered and taking first in five-of-six 3-meter competitions. The standout will now turn her attention to the New England Intercollegiate Swimming and Diving Association (NEISDA) Championships, held Feb. 21 – 24 at MIT. Allaire is the two-time defending champion at both heights.
