Panthers earn first win at Salem State
SALEM, Mass. - It was a successful Monday for the Plymouth State College women's tennis team as the Panthers defeated the Vikings of Salem State College, 9-0.
Plymouth State captured its first win of the season improving to 1-2. The Panthers played six single matches and three doubles, winning all nine.
PSC's Sarah Kasuba (Stratford, CT) won at No. 1 singles and No. 2 doubles to lead the way. Panther sophomore Sadie Roy (Lewiston, ME) was the winner at No. 2 singles and No. 1 doubles. PSC's top newcomer, Katie Olsen (Reading, MA) won at No. 3 singles and teamed with Stacy Wright (Harwich, MA) at No. 3 doubles. Olsen is leading the team in singles with a record of 3-0.
Other Panthers registering wins include Becky Stanley (Peterborough, NH) at No. 4 singles, freshman Molly Barnaby (Portsmouth, NH) at No. 5 singles and Calley Thorup (Cumberland, ME) at No. 6 singles and No. 3 doubles. Panther senior Jamie Hupper (Merrimack, NH) also won at No. 2 doubles.
The Panthers look to even their record at 2-2 on Wednesday, Sept., 20 as they will play in their home opener against Green Mountain (3:30 p.m.).
