Panthers down Salem to improve to 3-0

SALEM, Mass. -- The Plymouth State College women's tennis team improved to 3-0 on the season Tuesday with a decisive 7-2 victory over Salem State College.

The Panthers swept the three doubles matches, then won four of the six singles encounters to take the victory.

Senior Jamie Hazard (Foster, RI) continued her perfect individual season with a pair of wins at No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles, improving her record to 3-0 in both flights. Junior Katie Olsen (Reading, MA), who teams with Hazard at No. 1 doubles, captured a victory at No. 2 singles to up her season mark to 2-1.

Junior Lindsay Coletti (Hudson, MA) and freshman Megan Sowers (Londonderry, N.H.) also picked up singles victories for PSC at No. 5 and No.6, respectively. Freshmen Whitney O'Leary (Sagamore Beach, MA) and Rachel Xavier (Meredith, NH/Pilgrim {RI}) took the match at No. 2 doubles, and freshman Jessie Leone (Cataumet, MA) and sophomore Rebecca Love (Bedford, NH) teamed up to win at No. 3.

PSC looks to make it four in a row Saturday with a Little East Conference match this Saturday at UMass Dartmouth (1:00 p.m.). -- 30 --
