PSC still unbeaten after blanking UMB

BOSTON, Mass. -- The Plymouth State women's tennis team didn't lose a set Saturday and posted a 9-0 victory over UMass Boston in a Little East Conference match at the Clark Athletic Center.

The Panthers remained undefeated on the season at 6-0 overall and 4-0 in the LEC, while UMB is on the other end at 0-6 and 0-4.

Senior Jamie Hazard (Foster, R.I.) and junior Katie Olsen (Reading, Mass.) led the way for the Panthers, winning at No. 1 and No. 2 singles, respectively, and teaming for the victory at No. 1 doubles. Hazard is still perfect on the season (6-0 in singles and doubles) while Olsen is 6-0 in doubles and 4-2 in singles.

Freshman Whitney O'Leary (Sagamore Beach, Mass.) was also a double winner for PSC, taking a 6-0, 6-0 decision at No. 3 singles and teaming with classmate Jessie Leone (Cataumet, Mass.) for the match at No. 2 doubles. O'Leary is 4-0 in singles this season, and 5-0 in doubles with two different partners.

The other winners for PSC included senior Sarah Kasuba (Stratford, Conn.) and juniors Cally Thorup (Cumberland, Maine) and Lindsay Coletti (Hudson, MA) in singles and freshmen Megan Sowers (Londonderry, N.H.) and Rachel Xavier (Meredith, NH/Pilgrim {RI}) in doubles.

PSC looks to keep its streak going Thursday with a 3:30 p.m. encounter against Endicott, the final home match of the season.
