PLYMOUTH, N.H. - Two Plymouth State University student-athletes were recognized Monday with weekly honors from the Little East Conference.
Junior Kelly Landry (Nashua, N.H.) was named LEC Volleyball Offensive Player of the Week for the second straight week and the third time this season, and freshman Jill Deyermond (Atkinson, N.H./ Timberlane) was selected LEC Women's Tennis Rookie of the Week.
Landry led PSU to an LEC win over UMass Boston last Wednesday, and
helped the Panthers reach the championship match last weekend at
the Bates Invitational, where she was named to the All-Tournament
Team. For the week, she averaged 4.55 kills with a hitting
percentage of .333, recording double figures in kills in all six
A two-time All-LEC First Team selection as an outside hitter, Landry has continued as one of the top players in the conference this season. She leads the conference in kills with 4.04 per game, and ranks among the LEC season leaders in hitting percentage (.292) and service aces (0.61 per game).
Deyermond is enjoying an outstanding rookie campaign for the
Panther women's tennis team. She registered victories in seven of
the eight matches she played last week, posting a 3-1 record at #3
singles and a perfect 4-0 record at #2 doubles. All of her singles
wins last week were in straight sets, with her only loss coming in
singles to defending champion Rhode Island College. Deyermond is
4-4 overall in singles this fall with a 5-4 mark in doubles.
