Panthers down Salem State in LEC womens tennis match
SALEM, Mass. - Plymouth State University used solid depth and strength in the lower flights Wednesday afternoon to defeat Salem State College in a Little East Conference women's tennis match. The contest was a make-up from the one rained out last Saturday.
The Panthers, who were without two starters, captured the bottom four singles matches and the lower two doubles matches. PSU has won four in a row to improve to 4-2 overall and 3-0 in the LEC, while Salem State drops to 1-4 overall and 0-3 in conference play.
Senior Sarah Cole (North Waterboro, Maine) and freshman Meghan Rodier (Francestown, N.H./ConVal) were double winners for the Panthers. Cole won at No. 4 singles and teamed with senior Whitney O'Leary (Sagamore Beach, Mass.) for a victory at No. 2 doubles, while Rodier captured her No. 5 singles match and paired with sophomore Briley Boisvert (Goffstown, N.H./Trinity) for a win at No. 3 doubles. Senior Rachel Xavier (Meredith, N.H.) also picked up a singles win at No. 3, and junior Brittany Campbell (Newport, R.I.) recorded her first career singles win at No. 6.
