PSU Women’s Tennis player receives post-season honor
Smith represents Panthers on All-LEC team
PLYMOUTH, N.H. – A junior on the Plymouth
State University women’s tennis team was honored by the
Little East Conference Tuesday in recognition for her outstanding
season in 2010.
Junior Lydia Smith (Marblehead, Mass.) was named Women’s Tennis All-LEC Second Team at No. 4 singles. She played mostly No. 4 singles for Plymouth State as well as No. 2 doubles.
A co-captain and three-year veteran starter for the Panthers, Smith

this season, going 7-3 at No. 4 and 2-0 at No. 3. She won her
first nine matches of the season before dropping her last three,
all in three sets. Smith now has a career singles mark of
22-16. She was also 6-6 in doubles with sophomore
Rachel Figura (Cheshire, Conn.).
The Panthers finished the season with a 6-7 overall record, doubling the number of victories from the 2009 season. PSU qualified for the LEC Tournament after posting a 4-4 record in conference matches, suffering a first-round defeat at Western Connecticut.
