Smith records lone win for Panthers

NEW LONDON, N.H. – The Plymouth State University women's tennis team dropped an 8-1 decision to Colby-Sawyer College on Wednesday afternoon in a non-conference match-up.

The Panthers were forced to play the match without their top two players, senior Zara Jakubas (Califon, N.J.) and sophomore Sunny Jakubas (Califon, N.J.), who had academic commitments.

PSU's lone victory came at No. 6 singles as senior Peyton Smith (Stuttgart, Germany) downed Marrisa Ulmer (Windham, Maine), 6-1, 6-4.

Colby-Sawyer improves to 3-1 and will open North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) action on Saturday at home against Castleton. Plymouth State drops to 1-2 and will host Little East Conference foe Bridgewater State on Saturday at the Holderness School Courts (1:00 p.m.)
