PSU Women’s Tennis drops conference opener to Rhode Island College

Venincasa, Sundquist team up for doubles win

            PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Plymouth State University women's tennis team opened its Little East Conference (LEC) schedule with an 8-1 setback against Rhode Island College at the RIC Tennis Center. With the loss, the Panthers fall to 0-1 in LEC play and 2-2 overall while the Anchorwomen improve to 4-0 overall and 1-0 in the LEC.

            The Panthers were led by the freshmen tandem of Kerstin Venincasa (Sutton, Mass.) and Jenna Sundquist (Monument Beach, Mass.). The first year duo earned an 8-6 win at number two doubles for the lone win for PSU.

            Plymouth State will look to rebound when they travel to NCAA D-II opponent Franklin Pierce University Thursday (Sept. 14) for a 3:00 p.m. match. The Panthers return to Little East play next Saturday when they travel to Worcester State.
