Bomely, Dion, Anderson, Perez place 16th for Panthers
MIDDLEBURY, Vt. – The Plymouth State University women's track team was represented by its 4x200 meter relay team Saturday at the 2016 New England Division III Women's Track & Field Championship in Middlebury College's Virtue Field House on the New Balance Foundation Track.
The meet featured nearly 50 schools and over 450 athletes competing in the two-day event, with qualifying performances required to be entered in the meet.
PSU's outstanding 4x200 meter relay contingent proudly represented the school, as freshman Amanda Bomely (Middletown, Conn.), senior Cierra Dion (Manchester, N.H.), and sophomores Allbanie Anderson (Somersworth, N.H.) and Diana Perez (Cranston, R.I.) placed 16th out of 23 teams in a season-best time of 1:52.37, narrowly eclipsing the previous best of 1:52.54 set at the Little East Conference championships last week.
The Panthers are in their first season as a varsity women's program. Plymouth State had men's track and field in the late 1960s and 1970s before discontinuing the program prior to the 1980 season.
The indoor track & field season is complete for the Panthers, with the outdoor season set to begin on Saturday, Apr. 2, at the UMass Dartmouth Corsair Classic.
