Wescott named Rookie Field Athlete of the Week

PLYMOUTH, N.H. – Following an impressive home debut, a member of the Plymouth State University women's indoor track & field team earned Little East Conference (LEC) weekly recognition on Monday.

Freshman Hannah Wescott (St. Johnsbury, Vt.) was named the LEC Women's Indoor Track & Field Rookie Field Athlete of the Week after breaking a pair of school records to lead the Panthers to a second place finish at the PSU Winter Classic on Saturday.

Just a week after setting a new PSU standard in the 60-meter hurdles Wescott was back at it again, raising the bar in both the high jump and pole vault. She cleared 1.58 meters in the high jump to finish second and topped 2.80 meters in the pole vault to take first overall.

Wescott's performance helped Plymouth State accumulate 111 points to top the defending national champions, the University of Massachusetts Boston, and trail only NCAA Division II Southern New Hampshire University in the team's first home event of the season.

Plymouth State will take the next four weeks off for finals and the holiday recess before competing at the Middlebury Winter Classic hosted by Middlebury College on Jan. 12.
