PSU Women’s Indoor Track & Field athletes earn LEC recognition

Geyselaers, Miller named Track Athlete and Track Rookie of the Week 

            PLYMOUTH, N.H. – After yet another set of record-breaking performances on the track, a pair of Plymouth State University women's indoor track & field athletes were honored by the Little East Conference (LEC) when the conference announced its weekly awards winners.

            Sophomore Emily Geyselaers (Cornwall Bridge, Conn.) and junior Caitlyn Miller (Lee, N.H.) were selected as the LEC Track Athlete of the Week and Rookie Track Athlete of the Week after an outstanding showing at the Branwen Smith-King Invitational hosted by Tufts University on Saturday.

            Geyselaers reset her own school record with a blazing 26.68 time in the 200-meter dash to finish third, after just setting the record a week ago with a time of 27.00. Her time is currently the third fastest among LEC athletes this winter. She added a seventh-place finish in the long jump after covering 4.79 meters. Geyselaers now holds program records in the 60-meter dash, 200-meter dash, triple jump and was the anchor for the record-breaking 4x200-meter relay team.

            Miller shattered the program record in the 5000-meter run by nearly 50 full seconds to finish fifth. Her time of 19:07.24 is the fastest among LEC competitors by more than 39 seconds. In her first year with the team, Miller has claimed school records in the mile run, 5000-meter run and she ran the anchor leg of the fastest 4x800-meter relay in program history.

            Plymouth State hosts the Panther Invitational at the Bank of New Hampshire Field House at ALLWell North on Saturday (Feb. 3) at 10:00 a.m. PSU will honor its senior class with a special Senior Day ceremony starting at 9:15.
