PSU Women’s Track & Field tunes up at Dartmouth Classic

Panthers set to host Little East and Alliance Championships

HANOVER, N.H. – Senior Cierra Dion (Manchester, N.H./Central) and freshman Diana Perez (Cranston, R.I.) posted the top performances Saturday afternoon to lead the Plymouth State University women's indoor track & field team at the Dartmouth Indoor Classic at the Leverone Field House at Dartmouth College.

The meet was a non-scoring event with more than a dozen teams from all three NCAA Divisions. PSU sent a contingent of a dozen athletes who competed in eight different events.

Dion was PSU's top finisher in the 60 meter dash in 8.44 seconds to place 18th, and ran a season-best 27.88 seconds to finish 22nd in the 200 meter dash. Perez was not far behind, running a 8.68 in the 60 meter dash and a personal-best 28.14 in the 200 meters, which meets the Little East Conference qualifying standard.

Dion and Perez were joined by freshmen Amanda Bomely (Middletown, Conn.) and Allbanie Anderson (Somersworth, N.H.) to lower the team's best mark in the 4x200 meter relay, finishing third in a time of 1:52.21.

PSU had a solid group of runners in the 1000 meters, as sophomore Rileigh Goulette (St. Albans, Vt.) placed 13th in 3:22.61, freshman Lora Giguere (Tolland, Conn.) finished 15th in 3:23.50, and freshman Haley Dennis (Coventry, R.I.) was 17th in 3:27.76. Freshman Julia Ribeiro (Nobleboro, N.H.) was also 17th in the 500 meters in 1:36.43.

The Panthers will host the Little East Conference Championships and the New England Alliance Championships next Saturday at the George Davis Track, beginning at 11:00 a.m.

The Panthers are in their first season as a varsity program.
