PSU Women’s Outdoor Track & Field athlete wraps up at Silfen Invitational

Wescott finishes fourth, sets school-record in heptathlon

            NEW LONDON, Conn. – Plymouth State University women's outdoor track and field freshman Hannah Wescott (St. Johnsbury, Vt.) wrapped up her debut in the heptathlon at the Silfen Invitational hosted by Connecticut College on Saturday.

            Wescott closed out the event with the long jump, javelin throw and 800m run to finish fourth overall with a school record 3,833 points.

 

            The Basics:

            Silfen Invitational (Heptathlon) – Wescott, 4th of 10

 

            How it Happened:

            * Wescott picked up 448 points in the long jump after covering 4.58 meters to finish seventh in the event.

            * She also finished seventh in the javelin after a toss of 23.04 meters.

            * Wescott crossed the finish line of the 800m run in 2:49.37.

 

            Straight from the Coach's Mouth:

            "Hannah battled through some tough conditions today in the pouring rain," said head coach John Ostler. "Her point total of 3,833 is a great debut. I can see her getting over 4,000 when she competes later at New England's."

 

            Up Next:

            * Wescott and the rest of the Panthers head to Tufts University next Saturday (Apr. 20) for the Sunshine Classic.
